SWA Movie Analysis
The three films were all very different because they came from various time periods. Nosferatu was a silent film, which means that the music had to have a large effect on the terror of the movie. It also was in black and white, which, during the time it was released, was normal, however now it makes it seem dark and eerie. The shinning had many different aspects of terror. It had dialogue and the acting was scary. For instance, the raging man with the axe was talking like he was crazy, and the little boy was saying “redrum” or murder backwards in a very unpleasant voice. The Conjuring is a modern day film, and because of this, has the most advantages. It has great special effects makeup on the character that jumps off of the wardrobe, as well as the creepy character that appeared in the mirror of the jack in the box.

The film that I find to be the most effective is The Conjuring. I have seen The Conjuring and The Shinning from start to finish and although I haven’t seen Nosferatu, I still feel like The Conjuring was the most terror inflicting of the three. The clip from The Conjuring has the demon like character jump off the cabinet and attack the girl. Now this is something that happens in the worst of nightmares. For instance, in The Shinning, the only real villain is the father with the axe. I feel like if I were to be attacked by him I would be able to deal with that myself without any real issues.  If I were attacked by the demon in The Conjuring, I would crumble in fear. When I think of terror that is what I think of.
