Should College Athletes be Paid:
Andrew Francisco Ivan
This
group had a slideshow that was very visually appealing being that it was the
same colors as the ncaa logo. Their presentation was good for the most part. They
could have used more energy and it could’ve been a bit more organized however
they did make a lot of good points.
Violent video games: Pavel David
Forest
I
liked how the did something different and started out their presentation with a
video, this got the audiences attention right off the bat. However, there was a
big lack of energy which made the entire presentation seem boring. It also
sounded very informative and I wasn’t sure on the their question was.

The
truth behind diets: Irania, Jessica, Randee
This group had a very visually
appealing slideshow and seemed to be very organized and well prepared. I liked
the multimodal aspects of their presentation with the video, as it was
appropriate and effective. They could have used more energy in their
presentation.
Space
Exploration: Blake, Doyle, Daniel
This group presented a very
interesting topic that I did not know a whole lot about; therefore it kept me
interested. They were all very clear and concise throughout the presentation.
They also didn’t only read off the slides the whole time. They seem to know the
topic very well, however, the presentation sounded a little too informative.
Hypocrisy
is A Whore: Saul, Brian, Carlo
This presentation was very funny
when it started out with the Hannah Montana reference and pictures. They did a
great job of capturing attention and not reading off the slides. However, it
seemed like they didn’t use a lot of hard evidence to back up their statements
and were just making assumptions. Overall it was funny and entertaining.

Altered State of Legality: Spencer,
Thai, Melissa
This
group did their presentation on the topic of the legalization of marijuana. Their
analysis was informative but it didn’t only focus on the information; it also
persuaded the audience. They did a good job of not sticking strictly to the
information on the slides, they also added in and “spoke” to the audience. The quotes
from the interview had a lot of meaning and power towards their main point.
Fast Food in America: Matt, Jose,
Brett
This
group also did a great job of giving you the basic information and then
persuading. I loved how they interacted with the audience with the caloric
intake part of the presentation. They overall presentation was funny,
enjoyable, and kept the audience entertained/tuned in. the only real weakness
of it; is that it was very predictable. This is a topic that everyone knows
about and everyone knows the result.

PhD. "Caffeinated Cocktails: Energy Drink Consumption, High-risk Drinking,
and Alcohol-related Consequences among College Students." Academic

2. This article
is about the relationships between energy drink use, high-risk drinking
behavior, and alcohol-related consequences 3. Researchers used data from
surveys taken by students at 10 universities in North Carolina to try to
identify how many students are mixing there alcoholic beverages with energy
drinks. 4. Their research focuses on how much the students are drinking and
whether or not they have been through any harmful experiences in a certain
amount of days in the past. 5. The information provided is very useful to the
topic of alcohol and energy drink consumption. They focus almost completely on
the topic of mixing alcohol and energy drinks instead of just alcohol. 6. The
study was limited to college students from a particular geographic area, and
their ability to assess causal relationships. 7. Therefore the authors express
that there must be further research attempted to gain more of an understanding
of the topic. 8. This research is really effective because not a lot of college
students know that mixing alcoholic beverages with energy drinks lessens
subjective intoxication in those persons. Thus these students are doing this
not knowing that they are physically hurting themselves more.

Paper 2
I couldn’t
really think of a significant new place that I had visited within the past year
that would be worth writing about, however I did travel across the country to
Virginia about a year and a half ago. I understand that this is outside the
timeframe, but this trip was so memorable that it feels like I was there
yesterday. The reason for my visit to Virginia was due to a football camp. This
camp was called Football University Top Gun, and it held some of the most elite
athletes throughout the country. Now I know that I am not necessarily one of
the most elite, but I was blessed enough to get the invite to go to the camp.
During my time in Virginia, I was outside for the most part doing physical
activity. The climate there was not my cup of tea to say the least. It was like
you were running around in a steam room the whole time. The temperature was
upwards of 90 degrees and it was extremely humid; so once you start to sweat,
you wont dry off for just about the whole day. I wasn’t able to experience much
of the landmarks or historical attractions due to the fact that I was at the
camp the whole time. I would most definitely like to go back to Virginia so I
can get a sense of what the state is really like instead of just going for a
football camp. Don’t get me wrong, I had a great time and I will never forget
this trip, but I would’ve liked to experience more of the state of Virginia. If
I could travel to one place anywhere in the world, it would most likely be
somewhere like the Bahamas or the Caribbean islands. These places just look so
beautiful and it seems impossible to not have a good time when you’re on those
white-sand beaches looking out at the crystal clear ocean. I would take my
entire extended family along with me if I could and we would stay there until we
didn’t want to be there anymore.
